In-N-Out Hours

Standard hours (most locations)

Sunday – Thursday
10:30 AM – 1:00 AM
Friday – Saturday
10:30 AM – 1:30 AM

Individual stores can vary slightly. Your store's exact hours are printed on its page on the official In-N-Out website and on Google Maps.

In-N-Out keeps some of the most consistent hours in fast food. The company runs a single daily pattern almost everywhere: doors and drive-thru open at 10:30 in the morning and the grill stays hot past midnight — until 1:00 AM on weeknights and 1:30 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. The late close is part of the culture; the post-midnight Double-Double is a West Coast institution.

Holiday hours

The chain closes completely on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and Easter Sunday — a Snyder family tradition that has held since the early years. On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve most locations close early, typically in the early evening. On other federal holidays (July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day) stores generally keep standard hours, and they are among the busiest days of the year.

Beating the line

The famous line is real, but it is predictable. Avoid 11:30 AM-1:30 PM and 5:30-8:00 PM if you can. Mid-afternoon on a weekday is the sweet spot, and walking inside almost always beats the drive-thru at peak — the dining-room line moves fast because the kitchen is built for volume. Late night (after 11 PM) is the other locals' window: quick, quiet, and the fries are at their best straight from a hot fryer with no queue behind you.

Is In-N-Out open for breakfast?

No — and there is no breakfast menu at all. The first burgers come off the grill at the 10:30 AM opening, which makes In-N-Out a brunch play at the earliest. The chain has never served breakfast in its modern history, and given the menu's famous stability, an egg sandwich is not in the works. What does exist for morning people is the coffee, hiding at the edge of the drinks board for under two dollars.

Drive-thru vs dining room hours

Both run to the same closing time at most locations — the drive-thru does not stay open later than the dining room as it does at many chains. One practical difference: the dining room can fill and close its line a few minutes before the posted close on very busy nights, while the drive-thru takes cars until close. Late-night regulars plan to be in one line or the other by 12:45 AM.

What time does In-N-Out open?

Almost every location opens at 10:30 AM. A small number of stores in high-traffic areas open slightly earlier, but 10:30 AM is the chain-wide standard.

Is In-N-Out open on Christmas?

No. In-N-Out closes on Christmas Day, Thanksgiving and Easter Sunday — three of the very few full closures in the chain's year. Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve usually run shortened hours.

When is In-N-Out least busy?

Weekday mid-afternoons (roughly 2-4 PM) and the last hour before close are the quietest windows. The lunch peak runs 11:30 AM-1:30 PM and dinner 5:30-8 PM, when drive-thru lines can reach 30 minutes or more.
